A 70-year-old Austrian from Tyrol was killed on Tuesday in a knife attack in Sulgen in the Swiss canton of Thurgau, and a 65-year-old Swiss man was arrested.

The victim died at the scene from his stab wounds, the Swiss police reported. The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the APA news agency on Friday that the deceased was an Austrian citizen; the ministry provided no further details, citing data protection. According to the police, the man was a resident of Tyrol.

Regarding the course of events, investigators stated that the attack occurred after an argument in front of a single-family house in Sulgen. Sulgen is located about 40 kilometers from the Austrian border. A woman witnessed the fatal incident, according to the police.
