The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a missing Gulfstream G100 business jet that took off from Bermuda with six people on board, authorities said on Saturday.
The flight and the search
According to flight tracking service Flightradar24, the aircraft, registered as C-GRJP, departed Bermuda at 00:41 local time. The Coast Guard said six people were on board the aircraft on Saturday. The operator, Latitude Air Ambulance, is based in Canada and is involved in air ambulance operations across the North Atlantic corridor.
Search and rescue teams have been working across a wide area of the Atlantic since the aircraft was reported missing. The route typically taken by air ambulance flights from Hamilton, Bermuda, often passes near Nantucket and into the U.S. mainland, with Boston, Massachusetts, frequently listed as a destination point for medical transfers.
