Udo Lindenberg Cancels Birthday Appearance in Gronau Due to Health Reasons

Despite the cancellation, a major special exhibition dedicated to the musician will proceed as planned. 'Udo L. – aus dem Pott ins Hotel' at the rock'n'popmuseum in Gronau is set to open on Thursday, June 4, and will run until the end of 2026.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a faithful replica of Lindenberg's hotel room in Hamburg. The Brost Foundation is funding the exhibition, which serves as a posthumous honor for his 80th birthday.

A Career Celebrated

A few weeks ago, Lindenberg opened another exhibition in Werl, approximately 100 kilometers from Gronau. That exhibition displays his pictures and drawings, referencing his well-known songs with titles such as 'Sie spielte Cello', 'Hinterm Horizont', and 'Ich mach mein Ding'.

The Brost Foundation released a statement in German, saying Lindenberg 'befindet sich derzeit in krankenhäuslicher Behandlung und wird auf Anraten seiner Ärzte in den kommenden Wochen eine Auszeit benötigen'.

Lindenberg, who turned 80 in mid-May, is one of Germany's most enduring and influential rock musicians. His career spans decades, and he is known for his distinctive voice, signature hat, and socially conscious lyrics.

The 'Udo Lindenberg & Friends' event was expected to draw fans and fellow musicians to Gronau. The cancellation has disappointed many, but the foundation has not indicated whether the event will be rescheduled.

The rock'n'popmuseum in Gronau confirmed that the special exhibition is not affected by the cancellation. It will open to the public as scheduled, offering fans a unique glimpse into Lindenberg's life and work.
