According to its own statements, the Ukrainian side attacked the refinery in Salawat in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan with drones, while Russia shelled the Ukrainian capital Kyiv with ballistic missiles.

The refinery in Salawat belongs to the oil company Gazprom Neft and has a processing capacity of more than seven million tons of crude oil per year. It is located more than 1,400 kilometers from the front line and was already targeted by Ukrainian attacks twice in September 2025. According to the republic's head, Radiy Khabirov, the facility continued operations without interruption after those attacks at the time.

Khabirov confirmed the new attack via the messenger service Telegram. He wrote: "Es gibt einige Rauchherde, die durch das Herabstürzen von Drohnentrümmern hervorgerufen wurden". Firefighters were busy extinguishing the fires. According to his words, there were no dead or injured.

In parallel, the Russian army attacked the Ukrainian capital Kyiv overnight with ballistic missiles. According to official sources, fires broke out in at least two city districts, in some cases triggered by falling debris. In the center of the city of around three million inhabitants, about half a dozen explosions could be heard.
