Bonn, 8 June 2026

At the opening of the ten-day UN Climate Conference in Bonn, UN climate chief Simon Stiell called on the international community to accelerate the transformation of energy supply and to fully implement the Paris Agreement.

According to the German government, the Bonn conference is the largest regularly held UN conference in Germany. Some 6,500 delegates from governments, science, business, and civil society from nearly all UN member states are taking part in the ten-day meeting. The aim of the conference is to prepare this year's World Climate Conference, which is to take place in Antalya, Turkey.
