UN Report Accuses Israel and Russia of Sexual Violence in Conflicts

The UN verified multiple cases of conflict-related sexual violence in 2025 involving 14 men, 7 women, 9 boys, and 1 girl from Gaza and the West Bank.

Rapes and gang rapes, in some cases repeated, were committed against nine victims, the majority from the Gaza Strip.

The UN report places Israeli security forces on a list of actors credibly suspected of systematically committing rape or other forms of sexual violence in armed conflicts.

International Reaction

Israel's UN representation in New York announced it would break off contact with the UN Secretariat under Guterres.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that the UN learned of Israel's decision from social media and is ready for talks at any time.

The report also criticizes Ukraine, but does not place it on the list.

The UN's annual list includes dozens of state and non-state actors accused of systematically committing sexual violence in conflicts.

UN Response

Countries such as Sudan, Haiti, Syria, and Mali have been on the list for years.

Russia was also added to the list of countries accused of sexual violence in conflict zones.
