Pakistan has announced a peace agreement between the US and Iran; the official signing is scheduled for Friday in Switzerland.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday via the platform X that the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran had agreed to end their war. "After intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the peace agreement between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been reached," Sharif wrote. Pakistan had acted as a mediating state in the negotiations.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister essentially confirmed an agreement but spoke explicitly only of a "declaration of intent." This more cautious wording reflects the diplomatic caution on the Iranian side, while the US and Pakistan are presenting the step as a formal peace agreement.
