A US federal appeals court has ruled that the Trump administration's new 10 percent tariffs on most imports can remain in effect for now, finding that the government is likely to prevail in the underlying legal challenge.

A US appeals court allowed the Trump administration's new tariffs to remain in effect for the time being. The decision temporarily reverses a lower court's earlier order that had suspended the duties, keeping the trade measure alive as the legal fight moves forward.

Since 24 February 2026, the United States has been imposing a 10 percent tariff on most imports from abroad. The levy was introduced after the Supreme Court declared many of Trump's previous tariffs unlawful, prompting the administration to turn to a different statutory authority for its trade policy.
