US company Forterra says it has deployed more than 100 of its self-driving off-road vehicles of the "Lancer" type in Ukrainian conflict zones over the past nine months, making it the largest deployment of autonomous ground vehicles by a US defense tech company in combat to date.
The battery-powered unmanned ground vehicles already in use in Ukraine, which can typically carry up to 250 kilograms, are now being supplemented by a gasoline-powered US model. The company describes itself as a pioneer in delivering autonomous systems into an active war zone.
