US Vice President J.D. Vance has announced that international nuclear inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will return to Iran, while also pointing to signs of a political change of heart in Tehran.
In an interview with NBC News, Vance said the return of IAEA inspectors would happen "absolutely." This ties into the recent diplomatic rapprochement between Washington and Tehran, which includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Vance did not provide a specific timeline for the inspectors' return.
At the same time, the Vice President warned that key details still needed to be worked out in technical negotiations. "On a number of issues, we need to work those things out only in the technical negotiation phase," Vance said. In remarks to CNN, he described the agreement with Iran as "a very general document."
