In view of an announced heatwave with temperatures of 35 degrees and above, the City of Vienna is extending the opening hours of several municipal pools and expanding its cooling offerings.

From Wednesday, summer heat is expected to grip Vienna firmly according to weather forecasts. The city is responding with extended opening hours at several pools in order to better distribute the crowds during the hot days. As Climate and Pools City Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ) announced, the facilities are to remain open longer than usual in the coming days.

From July 30 to August 2, bathers can use the Strandbad Alte Donau, the Kongreßbad, the Sommerbad Laaerberg, and the Brigittenauer Bad until 9:00 pm. „Von 30. Juli bis 2. August können Badegäste besagte Anlagen bis 21:00 Uhr nutzen", the city stated. Subsequently, from August 3 to August 9, the aforementioned Viennese pools will remain open until 8:30 pm („anschließend bis 9. August bis 20:30").
