Vienna, June 27, 2026
Vienna's rescue organizations have called on the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) to promptly resume tariff negotiations and have warned of a loss of the previously established quality of care.
The Samaritans' Association, the Johanniter Accident Assistance (JUH), and the Vienna Red Cross have jointly approached the ÖGK. According to an APA report, they see an urgent risk that the previous scope of services can no longer be maintained at the accustomed quality should the fund stick to its current offer. The organizations issued an "urgent appeal" to the ÖGK, calling on it to swiftly continue the negotiations.
Specifically, Vienna's rescue organizations are criticizing the size of the most recently offered tariff increase. The newly offered increase of 1.5 percent falls well below inflation and does not cover rising costs. According to the associations, this is due to a significant rise in operating costs, which have increased sharply in recent years.
