In Vienna, construction of the new science center "Q" officially began on Tuesday at Wollzeile 27a, set to provide children and young people with a place to research, ask questions, and help shape the future.

At Wollzeile 27a, in the heart of Vienna's city center, construction on the project "Q" officially kicked off on Tuesday. The center is being built in the spaces of the former Aula of Sciences, including the heritage-listed Jesuit Hall and along Bäckerstraße. From spring 2027, a new meeting place between science and society is to emerge across a total of 4,000 square meters.

The project is backed by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), the University of Vienna, and TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology). Together, they aim to create a venue where exhibitions, workshops, and events will be accessible with low barriers in the future. The total cost of the project amounts to 17 million euros, according to those involved.
