Approximately 58,600 students registered for the summer school over the past two holiday weeks, marking a clear increase for the education program this year.
As the Ministry of Education announced, around 58,600 students registered for the summer school over the past two holiday weeks. According to ministry figures, roughly 42,800 are participating voluntarily, while approximately 15,700 are required to attend. This puts the number of registrations well above the previous year's figure of 41,100 children and young people.
Education Minister Sees Effectiveness Confirmed
Education Minister Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS) expressed his delight at the strong response and pointed to the educational benefits of the program. "Es zeigt sich, dass die Sommerschule eine nachhaltige Bildungsinitiative ist, die Kinder und Jugendliche bestmöglich fördert. Die Anmeldezahlen bestätigen ihre Wirkung," Wiederkehr wrote in a press release. The summer school was originally introduced in 2020 to support children and young people with learning setbacks caused by CoV.
