The Swiss energy group Volenergy is taking over the filling station, convenience and fast-charging business of British energy group BP in Austria, as BP announced on Monday.

With the closing of the transaction, expected by the end of the year, all BP filling station locations in Austria are to go to the Swiss company Volenergy. This is according to a release published by BP on Monday. Accordingly, the takeover covers not only classic filling stations but also the corporate fleet business, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and stakes in three joint ventures.

BP brand initially retained

Under a brand licensing agreement, the locations in Austria will continue to operate under the "bp" brand. As stated in a BP release on Monday, the filling stations are to continue operating under the BP brand initially even after the change of ownership. For customers, nothing will change at the pumps or in the shops for the time being.
