Wolfsburg, October 29, 2026

Volkswagen lowered its profit forecast for the 2026 fiscal year in September due to an impairment charge for Porsche, weak business in China and additional restructuring costs.

The group had already revised its forecast downward in September. The warning about problems in the current fiscal year was therefore known before Volkswagen presented its third-quarter financial statements on October 29.

A key reason for the lowered forecast was an impairment charge in the billions for Porsche. Volkswagen thereby valued part of Porsche's worth less.

Impairment charge weighs on the group

Weak business in China also weighed on the group's expectations. By naming this, Volkswagen identified a central reason for the weaker forecast alongside European and internal group factors.
