Wolfsburg, 29 June 2026

Volkswagen is ending the cooperation launched with Bosch in 2022 to develop autonomous driving software and intends to buy the necessary technology from a new partner going forward, as the company announced on Sunday.

The news spread over the weekend via the "Bild" newspaper, which reported citing insiders that the carmaker wanted to end the "Automated Driving Alliance" (ADA). According to the report, some 1.5 billion euros had flowed into the joint project, but internally the technology is classified as uncompetitive. The cooperation had been launched as a major project at the beginning of 2022 to close the gap to competitors such as Tesla and Mercedes-Benz in the race for autonomous driving.
