North Berwick, 11 July 2026
Bernd Wiesberger slipped from a share of first place to 118th at the Scottish Open in North Berwick after a round of 78 on the second day of the tournament, missing the cut.
The Burgenlander needed 78 strokes on Friday on the par-70 course following his opening-round 65 the previous day, falling far back. This round ended an impressive streak for the golf professional: after 78 consecutive cuts made at PGA tournaments, he missed qualifying for the further rounds for the first time since August 2022.
Collapse after promising start
The Scottish Open is this year a prominent DP World Tour event, traditionally serving as preparation for the following major. The course in North Berwick demands precise play and consistency from the players in changing wind conditions – qualities that Wiesberger evidently was unable to summon on the second day.
