Starting Situation After the Recession Years
The economists from Wifo and IHS will present their updated forecast for Austria's economy and the general government deficit on Thursday morning. In doing so, the two leading domestic economic research institutes are publishing their joint autumn assessment, which serves as an important point of orientation for budgetary policy and the social partners.
In April, Wifo and IHS had forecast economic growth of 0.9 and 0.5 percent respectively for this year. The National Bank (OeNB) has recently already updated its economic forecast and expects modest growth for Austria in the current year rather than a recession.
