Hamburg's Alexander Zverev faces American Taylor Fritz in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, against whom he has lost all of the past seven head-to-head meetings.

Alexander Zverev won his Wimbledon fourth-round match in the "extra session" 6:4, 7:5, 3:6, 7:6 (8:6) against the Czech Jiri Lehecka. His match against Lehecka had been interrupted on Monday evening due to Wimbledon's curfew at 6:4, 7:5, 3:3 at 11 pm London time. On Tuesday, the Hamburg native made a slow start in high temperatures on Centre Court.

Lehecka managed his first break of the match at 4:3, then secured the third set. Zverev, however, fought back and decided the match in his favor in the tiebreak of the fourth set. After the victory, he was already looking ahead to the final: "Natürlich möchte ich hier noch drei Matches bestreiten." About his path there, he said with a wink: "Wer hätte gedacht, dass ich nur zwölf Jahre brauchen würde, um hier so weit zu kommen."
