At Nussensee in Bad Ischl, the bomb disposal service of the Austrian Armed Forces and the police have discovered and secured another World War II explosives find.
Another Find at the Popular Recreational Lake
According to the Bezirkshauptmannschaft Gmunden (Gmunden District Authority), munitions or explosives from World War II were found once again at Nussensee near Bad Ischl. The find is located in the shoreline area and along an adjacent hiking trail. This confirms the concern that the lake still contains remnants of warfare decades after the war ended.
The bomb disposal service of the Austrian Armed Forces, together with the police, took over the securing and recovery of the found items. Specialists inspected the terrain at the shore as well as the hiking trail that runs parallel to the lake. During the operation, the affected area was cordoned off for safety reasons, meaning that pedestrians and hikers were temporarily unable to use the section.
