The head of US technology group Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, acknowledged shortcomings in the restructuring of the company and delays in the development of AI agents at an internal meeting.

As reported by the news agency Reuters, citing a recording of the meeting, Zuckerberg criticized the reorganized process, which also included extensive job cuts. The bets on the new structure had not paid off so far, he said. He also admitted mistakes in the timing of the changes and said the board had misjudged the order of the measures.

In May, Meta had cut about ten percent of its workforce, affecting around 7,000 employees. As part of the restructuring, around 7,000 employees were simultaneously moved into AI-focused teams. Internally, the goal of the restructuring was to finance investments in AI infrastructure and realize efficiency gains through AI-supported work. These measures led to internal resistance.
