On Tuesday, the Bern Cantonal Police recovered the mortal remains of a 26-year-old hiker in the Louwigraben area near Oberried am Brienzersee, who had been reported missing in the Interlaken region since early May.

According to information, the woman originally came from Chemnitz in Saxony and studied at the Magdeburg University Hospital in Saxony-Anhalt, where she was close to completing her medical studies. According to the authorities, she was a dual Libyan-German citizen. The police currently classify the finding as an accident.

The young woman had set out for a hike on Lake Brienz near Interlaken on May 2nd. According to investigators, the planned route was approximately ten kilometers long, from Harderkulm to Augstmatthorn. On May 4th, she was reported missing to the Bern Cantonal Police.
