The rescue services worked with the support of the mountain rescue service, according to reports. The identity of the deceased was established beyond doubt after the recovery.

According to the available reports, the German woman was traveling alone. Whether she had deviated from a planned route or strayed from the marked trail initially remained unclear. Police are now investigating together with the public prosecutor's office.

The Karwendel as a hiking region

The Karwendel is one of the largest and wildest mountain ranges in the Northern Alps and a classic destination for demanding mountain tours. The Montscheinspitze itself lies at 2,106 meters above sea level and is recommended for experienced hikers. In summer, the number of mountain accidents in Tyrol traditionally rises, as many athletes use the long days for tours at high altitude.

The authorities ask hikers to inform relatives about their tour and expected time of return. Complete equipment and carrying a charged mobile phone are also considered important precautionary measures. The Tyrolean mountain rescue service recently recorded a high level of operations in the region.

The memorial service and the repatriation of the body are currently being organized in coordination with the relatives. The consular authorities were also informed, as the deceased was a German citizen.

In parallel, the rescue services are reminding the public of another fatality in the Kleinwalsertal, in which a 63-year-old woman fell into a scree chute while hiking on the same day and also lost her life.
