While descending from the Göppinger Hütte toward Butzensee on Wednesday, a 64-year-old German citizen fell approximately 70 meters down a rocky slope and died as a result.
According to the Vorarlberg police, the incident occurred in August 2026 on a section marked as a hiking trail between the Göppinger Hütte and Butzensee. The man was descending, according to the emergency services, when he lost his footing on the steep, boulder-strewn terrain and slid into the depths.
The fall from a height of around 70 meters proved fatal for the 64-year-old. Rescue workers at the scene could only confirm the death of the German citizen. The Vorarlberg police confirmed the fatality upon request, according to their own statements.
