Farmer dies after farm loader tips over in Upper Austria

The accident occurred on Wednesday in Jeging. The police were called when the farmer was injured in the farm loader accident. According to the available information, he died at the scene.

A big bag is a large plastic bag, usually filled with bulk material, that can be picked up and transported using a special lifting device. During the procedure described here, the farm loader tipped forward while picking up such a bag.

What a big bag is

The initially problem-free lifting operations show that the accident occurred during another work step after the steps already completed. According to investigators, the vehicle suddenly lost its balance while picking up the additional big bag.

After the accident, the authorities took over the further investigations. The exact technical background of the loss of balance is not further explained in the verified information.

Farm loaders are used on agricultural holdings to transport materials and bulk goods. During loading-related activities, vehicles can tip over because of the weight of the load being picked up or because of driving over the lifting device.

Risks when loading in agriculture

Accidents during loading are among the riskier activities in agriculture. In practice, suitable supports and adherence to fixed work procedures are used for this purpose.

The state police provided information about the fatal accident in Jeging. Further investigations will reveal details about a possible technical cause or the circumstances at the farm.
