Vienna, May 12, 2026 Agrana annual loss 2026: €35.6M due to sugar write-downs Agrana Group, the Vienna-based fruit, starch, and sugar producer, reported a net loss of €35.6 million for its 2025/26 fiscal year, attributing the downturn to significant write-downs in its struggling sugar division.

Financial Performance and Restructuring

The company’s revenue declined by 7.9% year-over-year to €3.2 billion, while its operating result (EBIT) showed modest improvement, rising 6.2% to €81.2 million. Agrana CEO Stephan Büttner acknowledged the challenges in the sugar sector but noted incremental progress:

*"Das Zuckergeschäft blieb operativ schwach, zeigte aber dank Restrukturierungsmaßnahmen im Vergleich zum Vorjahr erste Verbesserungen,"* ("The sugar business remained operationally weak but showed initial improvements compared to the previous year thanks to restructuring measures"), Büttner said in a statement.
