Technology group Bosch is to receive up to $225 million from the US Department of Commerce's chip program for the conversion of its chip factory in the US state of California, and has simultaneously begun sample production of silicon carbide chips at the site.
As the company announced on Monday at its Roseville location, the funding of up to $225 million comes from the US Department of Commerce's chip program. The funds are part of efforts to strengthen domestic semiconductor production in the United States. Bosch announced the funding in the presence of Paul Thomas, the group's North American chief.
This view underscores the strategic importance of the site for the company.
