Golf pro Sepp Straka held his position in the top 20 after the second round of the British Open at the Royal Birkdale Club in Southport, while his Austrian compatriot Bernd Wiesberger fell just behind the cut line.
Straka played a par round of 70 on Friday and sat provisionally around 20th place at a total of two under par. Starting from 13th, Straka carded two birdies on the bone-dry dune course north of Liverpool, which helped him keep touch with the leaders.
He gave up a better position with a bogey at the 18th hole, which cost him several places in the final reckoning. He had already dropped a shot at the third hole. Despite these setbacks, Austria's number one held his ground in the upper midfield of the major tournament.
