For the second time within a few weeks, China has sent its coast guard ships into waters off Taiwan's east coast, while Taiwan's coast guard on Saturday detected the two ships 54 nautical miles east of the city of Hualien and deployed its own units for monitoring.

Taiwan's coast guard stated on Saturday that it was monitoring two Chinese coast guard ships that were located in the morning 54 nautical miles (approximately 100 kilometers) east of the city of Hualien, where a major air force base is situated. According to Taiwanese reports, the ships remained outside restricted zones. Taiwan's coast guard assigned two of its own ships to monitor the situation.
