When a huge garbage mound collapsed in the western Indian city of Pimpri Chinchwad, nine employees of a waste incineration plant were killed; another 14 people who were buried were rescued.

Course of the accident

As the operator Antony Waste Handling Cell in Pimpri Chinchwad in the west of the country announced on Monday, the accident had already occurred the previous Wednesday. According to this, a total of 23 people were buried under the garbage at the time of the collapse. Nine died, the remaining 14 were able to be rescued.

According to the Times of India newspaper, three of those rescued were still being treated in hospital on Monday. The condition of the injured was not initially described in detail. The operator provided no information about the identity of the victims.
