A dead humpback whale named Timmy, which stranded multiple times before dying near the Danish island of Anholt, has sparked outrage as tourists climb on the carcass for photos.
The whale, known as Timmy, was transported alive by a private initiative to the North Sea more than two weeks ago but later stranded and was found dead near Anholt. Authorities estimate the whale has been dead for at least a week, with decomposition making transport and examination difficult.
The carcass has attracted crowds of onlookers, some of whom have climbed on it for photos, prompting outrage on social media. 'Ich war so geschockt. 😳😞 Wie respektlos ...' or 'UNFASSBAR', were among the reactions on TikTok.
