After the fire at a music pub in the Thai capital Bangkok, the death toll has risen to 32, while more than 70 people were injured.

The fire broke out explosively late on Sunday night shortly before midnight in the single-story venue in a busy nightlife district. Eyewitnesses reported a rapid spread of fire and dense smoke. Dozens of people had become trapped by flames in the restaurant-bar "Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao."

As local authorities announced on Wednesday, several people died from their injuries in the meantime. "Zwei Menschen seien ihren Verletzungen erlegen, teilte das Polizeikrankenhaus am Mittwoch mit." Thai authorities now put the death toll at 32.

A total of 30 people are still being treated in hospitals according to the rescue services, 15 of them in intensive care units. 44 people have since been discharged from hospital.
