Bangkok, 19 July 2026
One week after the blaze at the restaurant bar "Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao" in Bangkok, the death toll has risen to 34 according to Thailand's public health authorities, with a 20-year-old woman the latest to die.
The young woman succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, the public health authorities said. This further increased the number of fatalities, which had already risen significantly immediately after the disaster. More than 70 people were injured in the fire at the venue, some of them severely.
Background to the Disaster
The fire broke out a week ago on Sunday during a concert at the pub. As the AFP news agency reported, citing a construction expert, the "Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao" did not have the safety systems required at events with live music and large crowds.
