Deutsche Bahn CEO Evelyn Palla has publicly criticized the company's management culture, demanding measurable results rather than explanations and praising front-line rail staff as the heroes who keep the network running.
Palla, who leads Germany's state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn, used an interview to draw a sharp distinction between senior managers and operational staff, saying accountability at the top had fallen short. "Für mich zählen nur messbare Ergebnisse und keine Erklärungen," she said, according to the APA news agency.
She stressed that her criticism of the performance culture was not aimed at those who keep trains moving every day.
