According to a newspaper report, Deutsche Bahn is planning investments amounting to several hundred million euros in order to significantly improve cleanliness and security on its long-distance trains.

The plans were presented by the company to the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag". According to the report, substantial funds are to flow over a period of several years into the equipping of the trains, additional personnel, and intensified cleaning. In doing so, the company is responding to persistent complaints from passengers about soiling and security issues on long-distance services.

Bahn CEO Evelyn Palla justified the initiative with the standard that the quality of the trains must already be visible when boarding.
