Brussels, 01 July 2026
The EU has, on 1 July 2026, implemented the agreements from the customs deal concluded last year with US President Donald Trump and is now allowing industrial goods and lobster from the USA to enter the single market duty-free.
What applies from now on?
With the new regulations, the EU is fulfilling the agreements from the customs deal concluded last year with US President Donald Trump. Industrial goods and lobster from the USA may be imported into the EU duty-free from today. This brings a central element of the trade agreement — which Brussels and Washington had reached after months of negotiations — into force.
In return, the community of states had to accept US tariffs of up to 15 percent on most goods exports to the United States. Further concessions, such as the elimination of EU duties on US industrial goods, round off the package. For certain agricultural products and seafood from the United States, reduced duties or tariff-quota rules also apply to improve market access.
