The emergency services were alerted in the morning. A rescue helicopter and ambulance service deployed to the scene of the accident together with the police. The operation was coordinated in close cooperation between the emergency services organizations.

The investigations into the exact course of the accident are ongoing. Weather influences and the condition of the not yet completed roof surface are central aspects. There are no indications of third-party negligence so far, according to police.

According to police, there was never any danger to the public at any time. The operation on the private property remained limited to the immediate vicinity.

The Feldkirch public prosecutor's office was informed of the incident. Whether criminal investigations will be opened depends on the outcome of the ongoing inquiries.

Risks on shell-construction roofs

Shell-construction roofs are considered particularly dangerous during the construction phase because no final safety elements such as parapets or scaffolding have yet been installed. In wet conditions, the risk increases further because wooden surfaces, tarpaulins and metal sheets can become slippery. Occupational safety experts generally recommend wearing personal protective equipment against falls during such phases.

The case is part of a series of accidents on construction sites in Austria that have previously prompted stricter inspections by the Chamber of Commerce and the Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt (AUVA).

Police are asking witnesses who made observations in connection with the fall to contact the nearest police station in Lustenau.
