A 69-year-old German tourist fell approximately 30 meters down a steep slope in Mayrhofen in the Zillertal during the night into Thursday and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Course of the fall
According to police, the man was out in the municipality of Mayrhofen in the district of Schwaz in Tyrol when, for reasons that have yet to be clarified, he lost his footing on a steep slope and fell about 30 meters down. According to the emergency services, the accident occurred late on Wednesday evening or in the night into Thursday.
As police reported, the injured man was given initial medical care by the Tux branch of the Red Cross rescue service and then admitted to the Innsbruck clinic with injuries of undetermined severity. No further details about his exact state of health were available on Thursday.
