France had treated the case as the first known Ebola patient on its own national territory. What is Ebola?

The discharge marks a success for French epidemic defense and at the same time a sign of hope in view of the ongoing crisis in Congo.

The government in Paris also emphasized the importance of international cooperation. The DR Congo would continue to be supported with personnel and materials, the Health Ministry said. Containing the virus at its source remains the most important task.
