Austria's Interior Ministry currently sees no indications of concrete threats in Austria following the deadly attack on the sidelines of Berlin's Christopher Street Day.

A spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry told APA on Monday in response to a query that there were "no indications of concrete threats". At the same time, she pointed out that the security authorities continued to monitor the situation closely.

Background: Attack in Berlin

On Saturday evening, a suspect at the edge of the Berlin CSD had driven into people with a van and attacked them with an edged weapon – allegedly a machete. A woman from Poland was killed and a further 29 people were injured, some with life-threatening injuries. After an intensive manhunt, Einsatzkräfte shot the suspect dead on Sunday evening during his arrest in an allotment garden colony in Berlin-Spandau. The killed person was a 21-year-old who could be attributed to the Islamist milieu and was at large despite a conviction.
