Situation and extent of the fire

The forest fire in Müritz National Park had been raging for almost a week; the Schwerin Environment Ministry announced in the morning that the flames have gone out. This marks the end of the multi-day major operation involving the fire service, civil protection, and numerous other emergency forces, the ministry said. However, a lasting all-clear cannot yet be given due to the special conditions in the affected area, which is contaminated with munitions.
