A forest fire broke out on Monday in the Müritz National Park in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, having now spread across more than 269 hectares of forest and making it necessary to evacuate the localities of Granzin and Granziner Mühle.

Situation and Extent of the Fire

The fire in the Müritz National Park broke out on Monday and was last reported by a district spokesperson to be moving further toward the locality of Granzin. The evacuation of Granzin and Granziner Mühle, which had already been ordered on Tuesday evening, remains in effect, as announced by the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district office in Neubrandenburg on Wednesday evening. According to the website of the municipality of Kratzeburg, Granzin has slightly more than 100 residents.

More than 260 hectares of land are already affected by the severe forest fire in the Müritz National Park in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, as the district announced on Wednesday evening. The affected area has expanded to 269 hectares, it was further stated. The cause of the fire is unclear.
