Situation in the Bordeaux Region

Firefighters in the Bordeaux region continue to battle the forest fires on the French Atlantic coast, which, according to the prefecture, have been stabilized but are not yet under control.

During a nighttime operation, 14 new fire outbreaks flared up in the region on Tuesday, according to the prefect of Bordeaux, Sophie Brocas. A total of around 2,750 firefighters, 23 firefighting aircraft, and more than 1,400 police officers are deployed. In Brocas's words, firefighters are battling "tree by tree" to prevent the fires from spreading again.

The regional chief administrator stated on Tuesday evening: «Der Brand ist stabilisiert, aber nicht unter Kontrolle und dehnt sich nicht weiter aus». This means the situation has been brought under control since the night of Monday, though not definitively.
