Vienna, 03 July 2026

Fuel prices in Austria fell significantly at the beginning of July 2026 and are back at the level of early March 2026, while refueling remains more expensive in several neighboring countries.

After fuel prices had temporarily risen to two euros per liter and more – also due to the Middle East conflict – both the crude oil price and the price at the pumps in Austria have dropped sharply in recent days. Currently, one liter of diesel costs 1.73 euros, and one liter of Super 95 is offered at 1.68 euros. This means fuel in Austria is as cheap as it was last in early March of this year.

Price Levels in Austria and Key Neighboring Countries

At the same time, a look across the borders shows that refueling in Austria remains attractively priced compared to some neighboring countries. In Italy, diesel is currently at 1.89 euros and Super 95 at 1.81 euros, in France at 1.87 euros and 1.94 euros respectively, and in Germany at 1.76 euros and 1.90 euros. Those traveling to one of these countries therefore tend to refuel more cheaply if they fill up the tank already in Austria.
