Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced on Saturday that he intends to nominate chess grandmaster Judit Polgár as a candidate for the office of President of the Republic. As Magyar stated on his Facebook page, he is planning a meeting with the 49-year-old this Monday and hopes that she will do him the great honor of accepting this nomination.
Magyar expressly honored Polgár's athletic achievements in his post. For decades, the name Judit Polgár has stood for talent and perseverance. As the most successful chess player in history, she led the women's world rankings uninterrupted for 26 years and was simultaneously among the ten best players in the world rankings, Magyar wrote.
