Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar wants to nominate former chess grandmaster Judit Polgár as a candidate for the office of President and announced a meeting with the 49-year-old for this Monday.

The question of succession at the head of the Hungarian state has become urgent following the removal of President Tamás Sulyok. The Hungarian Parliament had previously passed constitutional amendments that also led to the termination of Sulyok's term in office. An extraordinary parliamentary session on Monday will decide on the interim arrangement.
