East Rutherford, 20 July 2026

Former Swedish professional footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced his withdrawal as a TV pundit live on US television after the World Cup final in East Rutherford.

The 44-year-old Ibrahimovic, whose former clubs included FC Barcelona, was part of the expert trio at the US broadcaster Fox Sports during the World Cup. Alongside him were former US professional Alexi Lalas and French ex-international Thierry Henry, who became world champion in 1998. The show was moderated by Rebecca Lowe.

Over the past month and a half, Ibrahimovic was a regular part of the World Cup coverage and repeatedly drew attention with bold remarks and barbs aimed at his colleague Lalas. Observers rated the appearances as characteristic of the Swede, who polarizes off the pitch as well.
