The Indian private company Skyroot Aerospace successfully sent its first privately built orbital rocket "Vikram 1" into space on Saturday. The rocket reached an orbit at an altitude of 450 kilometers approximately 15 minutes after launching from the Sriharikota spaceport.

According to the company, the 23-meter-tall "Vikram 1" lifted off shortly after 12:00 local time from the Sriharikota spaceport on India's southeastern coast. As Skyroot announced on the online platform X, the rocket had successfully completed its first orbital test flight. "Hello space, we have arrived!" the company wrote.
About 15 minutes after launch, the launch vehicle reached its orbit at an altitude of 450 kilometers. According to the company, the rocket is designed to carry satellites weighing up to 350 kilograms into orbit.
