Vienna, July 31, 2026

The annual inflation rate in Austria fell to 2.7 percent in July 2026, as Statistics Austria announced on Thursday.

The pace of price increases has thus continued to ease, following a notable decline in previous months. Statistics Austria Director General Manuela Lenk pointed out that the decrease is attributable to a number of factors, including base effects in energy prices and a calming in producer prices. Inflation therefore remains below the highs of recent years but is still above the target set by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB).

Reactions from Politics

Federal Chancellor Stocker (ÖVP) stressed that the development is not yet sufficient. "Now it is a matter of sustainably bringing inflation back down to two percent in order to ensure purchasing power, financial planning certainty, and a stable environment for the people and our business location." He announced that the federal government would stick to economic policy measures aimed at price stability and relief.
